Here 2 of my plants that im concerned about and those roots on their stem do really start to mess up my aquascaping. Id say there soon be more roots them lefs itself. When they arrived to me there was not even 1 root on the stem and now full of them.

I have read that when certain plants require more nutriants and they are not getting it from the substrate or from the water collumn that they put out roots as they must be able to be better able to absord nutriant that way. I may be wrong but my hygro had hardly and roots and then with CO2 and no ferts = lots and lots of roots, CO2 and ferts = no roots.

This is something that all stem plants do. Nothing to worry about...

My stemmed plants are doing this like mad I figured becuase I have only gravel for sub but if it is normal regardless then that's even better!

yeah my rotala is doing the same. id rather have it chucking out roots, shows its actaually growing.

ok then feel better now :hyper:  but so strange when you see plants arrive or you buy them in shops you never get those roots.

I suspect it is a lack of something in the substrate as you said they obviously grow well enough without these stem roots elsewhere.

no, its becuase the plants in the shops are not established, they are constantly moved and never bed in. often they trim the roots when the plant comes in to make it look more attractive.

Oh ok. I know my ygros had no sign of roots along the stems when I first got them so that is why I made the assumption.

This is usually because the shops chop them just below the roots to propogate them and therefore make more money.
