Hi

ive replaced my lamps in my aquarium with 2 original tropical arcadia compacts (pinkish ones) (the tank takes 2) now after 3 days some of the leaf tips are goin a little brown is this normal?

How long has it been since you changed the bulbs? If the old ones were really old their output could have decreased significantly, thus installing the new bulbs all at once can send some of your plants into kind of a photoshock. Like putting a houseplant out into full sun all of a sudden. If you still have the old bulbs perhaps put one of the old ones back in, so you have one new bulb and one old bulb. Then in a month or so swap the other new bulb back in.

I have the old ones they was getting on for a year old since I had the tank so is that long then?

Im not sure a year is really that long for compacts, but I know people on here generally seem to agree that you should change one bulb at a time to give the plants a chance to get used to it. Is it all the leaves that are going brown at the tips? I would guess that if the problem is the lights suddenly being brighter, then it would be the uppermost leaves being affected. If its only the NEW leaves that are discoloured then it could be a nutrient deficiency, in which case you would need to look closer at what you are putting in your tank.
