Plants For A Basic Community Tank.

ive had my tank for a year and never had any luck with plants. they either die, dont grow to there full potential or get covered in algea.
i seem to have got rid of the algea to a certain extent by cutting down the hours my light is on for,it used to be on for about 12-14 hours a day but ive cut down to abolut 8-10.

what i need to know is what plants are best for my tank.im going down to my lfs sunday to buy some plants but have no idea on what plants to get or the names of any plants.so what are best, any info or pics would be great.thx very much.

We need more info on your tank.

What volume is it? What lighting (tube(s) make, model and size)? What substrate (gravel)? Any CO2 injection? Any fertilisers?

o ok, its 29 gal or around abouts, i have gravel and i havnt got any thing special like fertiliser as i havnt rearly took much intrest in plants till this point.sorry do not know a lot about my light, as far as i know its a clear white light, thx for that link.
