some of my dwarf hairgrass is rotting and duckweed is losing color. how do i fix this?
umm ill send pics later but basically everything normal 1 on nitrites.Pictures, parameters, please?
temp is around 73-77 nitrites were 1 in my old tank when we tested the water, it should be fine now cuz we just got 2 new fishNitrites should be zero, unless you are referring to nitrates. Light and temperature? Hairgrass and floating plants need/want lots of light. Hairgrass is not a true aquatic and can rot.
no i got new fish SO It made it higher also i recently got a new filter the old one was way too dirtyNitrites at 1 is high. If anything getting new fish will increase this. How long has the tank been cycled, your beneficial bacteria should be converting nitrites to nitrates.
i kinda caused mini cycle and im preparing to upgrade so there is currently not a lot of plantsDid you cause a mini cycle or did you keep the old filter media?
wdym additudeOk, you said
‘nitrites were 1 in my old tank when we tested the water, it should be fine now cuz we just got 2 new fish’
If you’ve got a new filter is it seeded, or did you just ditch the old one with all of the bacteria in it?
There’s no need for attitude when people are trying to help.
also correct that to nitrAtes were 0-20 in the old tankOk, you said

ohhhhhhh thats why thanks!Back to the plants: duckweed likes a lot of light and no water agitation. They melt if close to filter current. I have not had good luck with hairgrass and later learnt from @Colin_T that it is not a true aquatic and can rot. You could try a Chain Sword or Micro Sword, being true aquatics and "grassy" looking.
