Plants - Do I Plant Them?

might sound like a silly question, but i got some plants for my tank, and they come in little plant pots. do i actually plant them?
cos i took one out of the pot thinkin i was meant to, but there are no roots, they are like, just plant, so cant see how u would even plant it. does that make sense?
so i have 3 different types of plant in the tank now and all are still in their little pots....i have gravel on the bottom of my tank too which probably doesnt help

Simply take the plant out of the pot and plant it in the substrate, just like you would with a non aquatic plant.

well theres one that looks like long grass, so the bottom of each bit of the plant is just like grass. they all seperate at the bottom and have no roots. so i just bury the bottom in the gravel?
