will pleco eat my plants? i am not set on a type of pleco, a dwarf pleco would be what im going to get. I am suppose to get some BN, but now sure right now. thanks !

I've not had a problem with my pleco eating the plants. As long as there is other sources of food available I don't suppose it will be a problem.

Well it depends greatly on which one really. Some are more herbivores and some omnivores and require more of a meaty diet and won't touch plants. Bristlesnoses should be fine as long as you feed some algae wafers now and again too.

Wow you are kidding ! I rember one of the pics now - he was on front of the glass. Hard to believe they do not create havoc !

:D hi bloozoo, he never eats the plants, only algae.

although he has an annoying habit of kind of burrowing in the riccia, he gets his nose under a piece (at the base by the slate) then wriggles frantically until he manages to break away the slab of riccia. he only does this to get at the algae growing on the slate though. totally ignores the slab of riccia he's just destroyed and leaves this floating around the tank.

god i love it when he does that, you now know why my riccia changes shape every few weeks.... :p

here's the culprit.

i could never get rid of him though (until he's at tank buster size of course)

my local fish store has some rubber lip pleco for 2.99 right now and wanted to know if they are ok with plants, and how big are they going to get>
