Is planting plants in sand ok? just burying the roots? i seem to have to use weights on most or they just come up when my BN and corys snuffle about at night its only really my amazon sword that comes up ive had to use loads of weights and you can see the weights after a few days.

Hi Ethan040,what sand is it? i only had problems planting in unipac white sand,i have changed it since to play sand and in my opinion the plants hold better and grow better. I moved my Amazon sword last week and the roots were everywhere, when i had them in the white sand they never really grew.

I was using a larger grained proper aquatic sand which seemed ok but was too dark for me ive changed to argos play sand now as its only £3 for 15kg.

I use argos playsand also and have cories and bn's,i dont have any problems with mine even the vallis stays put and there only holding in by the roots. How deep is your sand?

Ian

Its about 2 inches deep what i think im doing wrong is im not pushing them in far enough and im piling the sand up around the roots so its just being moved down when they swim past il try going a bit deeper.
