Right, I would like to put mainly vallis, but do want to do other plants as well ( have yet to think of any ) in some kind of pot. Perhaps a clay terracotta pot or even the cheap route, use some cut up cola bottles ( these would be fine submersed right ? )
I am thinking the cola bottle route may be better to hide it, as its clear. and I can easily cut it to my required size.
I want to do this, as I find I can use less nutrient substrate, and also prevent my cichlids having a digging session and fouling the whole tank !
now onto the substrate to use, I hear vallis like iron rich soil, so I thought about laterite ? would this be good ? I would mix it in with sand and plant the plant, and use some gravel on top.
What substrates have people grown vallis in very well ? and fast.
