Ok sorry my first post is a question, but here I go! :)

Looking around at forums more and more at aquatic tanks and stuff Ive noticed every tank seems to have their live plants actually planted into their gravel/soil.
Mine are just sat there in the plant pots they came in! hmmmm....

I know being in pots is an eye sore, but i wasnt aware they could be planted.

The question is, how is it done? (I feel like i may be being a bit blonde but im just curious!)

be nice lol,

thanks!

Remove from the pot and plant in the substrate, it as easy as that. You also should see the plant do a lot better out of it's pot.

Do you also remove it from the spongey kinda stuff thats in the pot?
Thanks for your reply, you could have easily ignored my dumbass post lol :p

Take it out of the pot, DELICATELY seperate the roots from the "material" its rooted into, trim away any dead/dying leaves, also trim away roots if they look anything from white... a lot of people also suggest trimming the roots if their healthy because this promotes new root growth..

Ahh cheers dude, all of what you described makes sense. Thanks!

can i just add to the reply???

i was in the same situation as yourself, seeing all the awesome lookin tanks, but here was me still with mine in the black or terracotta pots they came in!

i too have realised they grow so much better by just having them as an open root and just pushing them into the gravel. The same applies for plants you buy which is individual stems, just push them individually into the gravel and they should stay put. If your worried they ight not stay, then maybe top your gravel up, or make it deeper bu moving existing gravel, or just angle the roots and have a stone over the top of them to keep them where they are.

hope that helps?

Hey, dont know what plants you have, but careful when u plant them, dont plant the rhizome if they have it. the roots were a right pain in the #17#####, when i got mine, they where rooted past the foam and and rooting aroudn the black pot, tieing together. I tried as carefully as i could to 'unroot' them, but ended up snapping a few of them, but the plants are healthy so it ended up fine :D
