Any advice on how to plant this and get it looking nice? I just recently moved it into the corner and it looked kinda cramped, so I replanted it and spread the stems out a little more. I obviously used gradually inclining size stems from the edges toward the back, but it still looks kinda... well.. odd...

See, kinda looks like it's being forced to stand to attention.

Thanks AP. I need to take some updated pics, I'm always fiddling with it!

Don't worry, my hygro corymbosa does the same thing. But then again, my plants aren't exactly ones to set as an example, so....

So you think moving it out again wont help? I'm kinda disappointed with this plant. I was expecting it to be all bushy and thick and stuff..

If it isn't growing bushy and thick, maybe you don't have enough light. What is your wpg?

CO2? Ferts? Substrate?

How are other stem plants doing?

When did you plant it?

CO2 is a nice stable 30ppm, no added ferts, substrate is flourite/sand 50/50 mix.

Other stem plants are doing fantastic, especially my polysperma. Having to trim 2 or 3 times a week! I planted the corymbosa a long time ago, but just recently moved it a few days ago. It's always been like this though. Maybe I'm planting it too close together?

H corymbosa is quite demanding in light terms. I would move you floating Riccia is it will be blocking light.

Do your tubes spread the entire length of the tank, or is it darker in the corners? This may be an issue.

I'd have to double check, but I think my corners are good. I think I lose most light in the middle of the tank. The lamps are 21" long, the tank is 48" long, so there's a few inches in the middle where the light isn't quite as intense. Plus there's the center brace there too.

I'll move the riccia, see how that helps.

Have you tried pruning it? This should help it bush out.

No, I haven't pruned it. I've been kinda scared to...

Thats the only way to get them to bush out. Otherwise they will grow up to the top of the tank and simply start bending and continue growing along the surface.

I used to be scared too.... You can try by pinching off the top two leaves of one plant and wait for the side growth. Once you get the confidence that it works you can experiment more ......

Yeah. See, with the poly' I know that I can hack away at it and within a week nobody will be any the wiser!

Thanks for your help, I'll post pics in a week or two and show you how it looks. Fingers crossed.
