I just got some anubias nana and was wondering if I should bury the roots in the gravel or let it just sit on the gravel

You should tie it to a rock. It is like java fern, if you put the roots under the gravel, the roots will rot.

The roots will be fine under gravel. The rhizome will not.

I have an anubias nana in a 10 gallon for over a year now with the roots in the gravel..it has flowered once and is still doing well. SH

just place it on the substrate and weight it down - the root will do their own thing...

we have loads (its a great grower) some tied to wood - others free 'floating' small fish love hiding in the roots (esp Our Khuli loaches)

I'm waiting on a shipment of three anubias nana plants to come. Should be here by tomorrow. I intend to weigh it down to substrate in the same way that I weigh my nana 'petite' down. With a paper clip. :D

Just use a vinyl coated paper clip. Cut it so that you're left with a: U shape. Hook it over the rhizome and push down into the substrate. Leave the rhizome exposed, the paperclip shoul dhold it. Then the roots will grow into the substrate, anchor it, then you can remove the clip.
