okay so we have orderd everything for pressurised co2.
plants are also an order..

the substrate in the tank at the moment is a little amount of aquarium soil(think its jbl) but not enough of it than capped with sand..

i have read alot about tesco cat litter as a substrate and im wondering would it be a good idea to use that instead?

i have read people using it on its own not capped.

what do you guys think?

Edit:also dosing with TPN+

ive just set a 5ft tank with Akadama 38 qiud delivered can give you a link if you like .

as above. if you want a cheap clay based substrate with a high cation exchange capacity, akadama is very useful and looks alot better than cat litter. i dont thing it breaks down as easily. some cat litters just turn to mud, much like tropicas substrate!

make sure you get the double red line stuff though. fleabay is a good place to look mate. a company called 'york bonsai'
