Hello,

I am new to the forum and have sent this post today as I am a bit stumped!

My tank is a planted tank and has been running for around 12 months, tank is very stable and plants are supported by CO2 system, tank is lit by an Arcadia OT2 luminaire.

Anyway, yesterday after topping up the water , I noticed that TI had a number of tiny black ant like insects moving around the lip of the tank. They seem to have gathered in the corners at the top of the tank - they are above the waterline, never seen this before, lots of tiny black insects!

Does anyone have any ideas where the little buggers will have come from and has anyone experienced something similar?

I know it all sounds a bit strange, the tank is fine, no issues in the water, only these insects chasing around the roof of the tank!

Thanks

Sounds like springtails. They're entirely harmless, and a welcome snack for the fish whenever they can catch them.

Thanks for the information, Mr Bliss - springtails are a new one on me!

I will watch and see with interest to see what happens to them.

Thanks
