Hi. I am about to make my triumphant return to the world of tropical fish after a 4 year hiatus. My previous aquarium was a planted tank with DIY co2 injection with a community setup. I was extremely partial to gouramis as evidenced by my posts back in 2004-I didn't realize I was so into them. I used to keep blue rams too, but that's as far as I ever got into cichlids. I am now in planning stages for a new aquarium. I will likely be getting a 38g aquarium. I have been thinking about cichlids for awhile, but I have a some questions with regard to a planted tank.
I would still like to have a planted tank, but does the higher pH for cichlids make this difficult? CO2 injection will always drop pH. I think I used to keep my community tank at around pH 6.8 which was great with my community tank, but this would be problematic with cichlids. Does anyone have experience with co2 injection, plants and cichlids. I would love to hear some experiences good or bad.
Thanks
