Planted Aquascape

Not after I start getting rid of tanks I won't. :p Thank you for the compliment from both of you though, but my hat (Yankees :p ) goes off to this tank without question, it is amazing. You have done some very hard work here.

Thanks Freshmike. I suppose it is hard work initially, researching, buying and growing the plants but if you have the right equipment (more research), patience and the ability to learn from one's mistakes then it's fairly simple, the tank's now well balanced and my main maintenance (except water changes) is pruning. I only clean algae off the glass every fortnight.

I would recomment a planted setup to everyone, it doesn't have to be expensive. If you stick to fast growing hardy species then the benefits to the fish and to the eye are remarkable. Even a Mbuna setup can have Java Fern thriving in it.

What a tank!!!!!!! I think you are selling yourself a bit short though. I think work and research are important to be sure but you have to have a gift so imagine the end result. Just like an interior decorator can imagine a room in a way that the person off the street can't begin to imagine. It's a talent and you most certainly have it.

great tank gf225, simply awesome  .

I took your advice way back and just had patience. Looks like you have more though since your tank is nicely pruned and aquascaped. Great job indeed.

Thanks Konrad, mutual respect.

Chemflex - I use the Dennerle range of fertilisers (S7, E15 and V30) and 2 x Nutrafin CO2 Systems (supermarket yeast and bi-carb) giving me about 20 mg/l CO2.
