Hey everybody.
Im setting up a 450 litre planted aquarium. This isnt my first attempt at planted, and in fairness, i did have much success with previous attempts. However, this is my first introduction into pressurised C02 etc, and this is a much larger tank also.
I have heared that as my tank is larger, i can be more leaneant with the lighting of the tank. The tank is 22" tall and is lit by 4, 36 watt T8 lights.
my question is, is this adequate, and will it allow my plants to thrive, my main stocking of plants would primarily be Amazon sword species, Cabomba and other S.A native plants.
Many thanks.
Dan.

that should be adeuguete but if you find your leaves begin to yellow you will need to add more units, t8s are very good lights. also a co2 kit would be benificial

you have about 1.5wpg, if you stick to easy lpants like you listed above, then you should be fine,

is this the biotope you are doing?

Biotope yes, Bearing in mind i would be having ALOT of displacement in the tank through bogwood, River rock and whatever, my total capacity is significantly reduced so lighting wattage: volume increases, so all is good.
The tank is a rena Aqualife 5ft model.
Many thanks.
Dan.
