Ok so my Hyrgo Polysperma (sp) and red ludwigia (sp) have bot grown into forests and grown to the top of the tank. But where do i cut it to grow some moer around the tank?

just cut the tops off above a leaf node and then replant that cutting (it would help if you let it float for a while so that it could develop roots), the lower portion will slowly grow new shoots :)

Kenneth states a good way to prune them but there is also another way. To pull the plant completely out of the substrate and trim it from the bottom, this eliminates all possibilities of it starting to look too straggly and stick-ish, either way works well and I have pruned my Polysperma both ways.

agree :D but if you want to mass produce the plant leave the lower portion in the tank :D if you want it to look good do what qwikimpss said :D remember to leave leafs for the lower portion !!

this is a crude drawing/picture of hyro sp. polysperma :)

a good way of cutting it would be to cut it in between leaf nodes :) in other words cut the stem part only :p

qwikimpss adviced you to remove the whole plant completely, cut the plant into desired length and replant the top portion of the plant into the aquarium :) if you want it to spread quickly just cut the plant (leaving leaves for the lower portion of the cutting) and then replant what you have cut :D the lower part will eventually sprout new leaves and regrow :p as you can see in the picture that is what will usually happen, the leaves will start to grow again on top of the older leaves :D

so jus cut anywhere on da stem and den can i replant the bit i cut off if i let it float for new roots yer?
