I am looking for bushy plants, under 30cm in size.
My 10 gal breeding tank has no CO2, and only occasional fertilization when java ferns turn pale. I have shirmps so i try to limit ferts.

The bottom is just plain gravel.

If anyone has any recommendations of hardy, green, bushy (and preferablly fast growing) please let me know.

Thanks alot!

I don't use CO2 either, and my Water Wisteria grows well,is bushy and light green in colour. It grows to the top of the tank (about 40cm) but you can just chop it off and replant the cutting). I also just have plain gravel as substrate but I use root tabs. :good:

I've no idea what this plant is but have asked here
perhaps someone will ID it and it is what you are looking for.

probably most echinodorus (sword plants) would do well

It is a Cryptocoryne, maybe undulata.

Dave.

EDIT: I dose EI and have no problems with my shrimps

I had some Amazon Swords which didn't do well at all under no CO2, low light and before I started fertilising properly. But maybe other swords would, I dunno...?

All of my crypts have done well, though.

Check out plantgeek.net - very useful.

If you want something bushy and grassy I got some Juncus Repens in the post last night and I think once its grown it would be quite nice :)

my juncus repens struggled and died under 2wpg, DIY Co2, and weekly fertilisation

thanks for the all the posts

wow, Juncus Repens was exactly the kind of plant i was looking for. Nice bright green, bushy and clean looking.
Water Wisteria look pretty nice too.

Would Water Wisteria grow well in my aquarium set up?
I will write once again.

10gal
Only occasional fertilization when needed
shrimps and community fish
2.5 WPG
neutral pH

of course it will.

I am just too lazy to empty the 2L yeast bottle every week.
Plus my tank is right beside where i sleep. I dun want anything like that in my bed room.
