Hello,

I have a couple of questions about plants:

1)

I have a lot of plants in my tank but recently the Pennywort keeps getting holes in its leaves. I cut these leaves off and it's now cut back quite a lot but the holes continue. It's the only plant having this problem and looks in quite a sorry state. Is it likely that this is being eaten? I have Amano shrimps, gouramis, rams and cardinal tetra.

Is it that I'm underfeeding the fish? How can I stop this? Is it better to replace it with a different plant?

2)

Should you cut back plants a lot to allow lots of free swimming space? My cardinal tetra don't swim in a shoal in the way I'd expected and I wondered if it was because the plants get in the way?

Thanks.

I'm not sure about the pennywort, sorry.

The answer to you second question, is; no, you don't need to trim the plants back; tetras and other shoaling fish only swim in a tight school when they're in danger and feel threatened. When they're happy and feel safe in your tank they will just swim in a lose group.

Do you have any snails in your tank? I noticed that in my one tank that has a few snails they make small holes in my water sprite then my shrimps come along and make the holes bigger and the holes start to decay around the edges which then makes the shrimp eat it even more. They don't touch any other plant that I've noticed but seem to like to eat a plant that is partially nibbled on or has some decaying bits on it.

I haven't seen any snails but I'll keep an eye out, thanks!
