it a type of vallis

Doesn't look like any Vallis spp. to me, I'd say it's the non-aquatic Ophiopogon japonicus (mondo grass/fountain plant).

Often sold as an aquatic at lfs' and chain stores. It can survive underwater and sometime seven grows but most of the time will go brown and rot within a month or two, or get covered with algae and die.

i had mondo grass for my turtle set up and that was also my immediate thought. NOT AQUATIC!

definatley not vallis, more like cyperus helferi however i still dont think it is that. I agree with the above - mondo grass.

will eventually get rid of it and probably replace it with more of my current plants.
