i bought this plant a while back labelled as wisteria but it looks nothing like the wisteria i've seeen on the web here. Does anyone know what it is??

Yup, those are the emerse growth form leaves of hygrophila difformis (wisteria). Given time they will drop off and be replaced by the more familiar 'tassly' leaves. If they don't then it could be a 'mutant' one that has it's genetic wires crossed.
