Plant Id Please

saw tis in my lfs for a quid liked the look of it and thought sod it il give it a go. could anybody give an id/ general info please?

you can tell by the thick stem, 2 coloured leaves (aquatic plants tend to "blend" into each other) whereas terrestial plants look painted. if that makes sense
