PFK April 19 - May 16th 2006 Page 48-49 ...whats the grass plant in that tank. I know the majority is riccia but whats the rest?

Anyone any ideas? It says in caption 1 Mini amano tank: ....glosso, micrathemum, riccia, and java moss! However since i cant see any java moss and certainly no riccia, i presume its not relating to the picture!

Chris

PS sorry if u haven`t a PFK copy, no scanner! and i bet it would infringe copyrights!

I haven't seen the photo (PFK in post as we speak but it's travelling 8000 miles) but I imagine it will be Eleocharis acicularis (hairgrass) if it's an Amano layout. He often uses Riccia and hairgrass together.

Oh i know what pic your talking about, that tank belongs to my not so local fish shop, but hes more a plant man, it looked alot better than that when i saw it, and yes its hair grass.
His shop is n north Wales, quirky tiny shop.

Yes completely...i was really looking at the combination of two plants together. I agee background and equipment are foul and the algea is terrible BUT i really like the theory of the layout.

Each to their own!

You know the riccia, how has he got it to come up and grow in the shapes it has done!! With it growing from a net mine has tended to grow up in a thick mushroom. In the picture it seems very thinned out and almost floating??

Chris

looks like it's about to fall apart mate. lol, it's fluitians rather than dwarf and it gets a bit scraggly just before it breaks free. mines looked like that in the past..
