Hello

I bought some plants on ebay. They have arrived in little pots but with no roots. I washed each stalk individually and carefully in tank water but then put them back in the pots and put them in my tank. I have no soil or furtiliser in my tank, just black gravel. What can I do to make them root? Will they just root buy themselves or do I need to add something? I don't really want to add soil if I can help it!! When the start rooting I will take them out of the pots and plant them properly.

It was a bit of a lucky dip and I don't know what they are. Is anyone able to ID them for me please?

Here is a full shot of my tank. It's rubbish, I have no imagination when it comes to layout!! I have tried and tried but it never looks right, if anyone can give me any tips I would be very very grateful!

Be forewarned, that I am by no means a plant expert but I did sell some of the very common aquatic plants for many years at a local fish store. I will hazard a guess and hope that an expert will come around to correct me if I'm wrong.

1-Hygrophila polysperma
2-Ludwigia repens
3-Microsorum pteropus (Java Fern)
4-I'm unsure of this one...

Need a better picture of the 3rd one. Looks like it has serated edges to me!!!

No idea on the 4th one but the first 2 IDs above are correct. (1 is actually Hygrophila Polysperma 'rosanervig'. slightly different from standard polysperma.

3rd one looks more like a bolbitis sp to me

I think you may be right...Bolbitis heteroclita? The 4th one still has me stumped. It appears to have lost a lot of leaves so who knows what it looked like intact.
