I got two plants I need help identifying.

First is floatng, kinda like duckweed, but the leaves' texture is different:

The second was what a seller gave me when I asked for frogbit (I meant the floating kind). I bought it anyway coz it was cute, but my problem now is, it grows really fast (inches within hours!), and I have some stems now that are longer than my tank height, causing them to bend. I've been trying to look for info on how to maintain/prune/propagate this plant, but can't figure out its scientific name...

I think the first pic is a form of Azolla (water fern) there are many varieties, they grow rapidly and choke waterways and are considered a pest in some countries.
See link for one variety.

The second I'm afaid I haven't gotta clue. Is it a true aquatic.

Thanks, BigC. That looks like it, all right. I hope the water fern will do OK in my tank, I'm trying them out in the tank with a lot of surface movement. There's no other plant, there, so they won't out-compete anything. I'll be careful so as not to distribute it to the sewers or the wild...

As for the 2nd, I really don't know, but I'm inclined to trust the seller as he seems to be reputable, and when I asked about another plant which he had before, he told me frankly that it wasn't really aquatic and so discouraged me from buying it from him.

ive a simalar plant that was sold to me under the name singapor vallis.
it propegates the same way as a vallis, with runners , is fast growing, easy to keep just nip the leafs off as they start to die, new one grow back quick.

runners have a thickis stem with a arrow head shape leaf they put out some roots and then start to shoot.
