Ive got a few ferns and low growing plants in the tank but nothing that reaches the top of the tank, any ideas of what to put in so he can make a nest round as he seems to have stopped making them since i took the dodgy thin leaved ones out, I have got some riccia on the way should i put some of that in there (floating)?

water lettuce?

amazon sword.

i replaced my betta's fake plant with it. grows very fast in the right circumstances and easily reaches the top of deep tanks.

Java fern works well too.... although with my experience, it doesn't reach as high as amazon sword and certainly isn't high enough for a respectable betta tank.

lately i've caught my betta resting on my anacharis (both floating and planted).

All of the above mentioned plants are very easy to grow/keep.

Riccia, Water lettuce, and Salvinia are all good floating plants that do well in aquaria. All are good for bubblenesting too.
