any chance of being able to take the floating chunks of plant that come loose and get them to root in a small dish of tank water under a light if i were to dose with plant food, or am is it just wishful thinking?

Leave the floating in the tank, probably the best way to do this - depending how big they are initially, you may just be able to push the base into the gravel and it will root that way.

thank you, i may dropping them in a fry tank to keep them out of the filters. my gouramis do love to hang out under the floating pieces anyways.
