I was running errands this morning and happened to see a package containing two 'bulbs.' for aquarium plants. Just curious if anyone has ever tried them? Says you drop them into the tank, the root system grows into the gravel, and the plants can grow as tall as 3-5 inches in 20 days, I think it said.

Don't recall what company sells them....but curious if they actually work? They had a couple different types of plants there..one was a lily, I don't recall what the other one was...

Havnt tried them myself. A pet shop near me sells them, they have them floating in the tanks which dos'nt look nice. The bulbs are quite big so gravel would need to be quite deep to cover them up.

Hmmm... the only plant I have that grows from a bulb is the Nymphaea Lotus or Tiger Lotus. It's a gorgeous plant and is the centerpiece of one of my tanks. It needs very high light and can grow very big and beautiful. :)

The problem with bulbs is that you can never be sure if they will sprout or not and some people have had problems with them. I bought mine once it already had some leaves but you can certainly give it try and see if it works for you.

Good luck! :)

i bought a pack of 5 at walmart. and none ever bloomed....waste of $2...and i think that's where my snails came from... not worth it IMO
