I bought some live plant bulbs from the petstore just to try them out. the instructions say to just toss them into the tank, and it'll grow. I highly doubt that, but anyone have any good experience with them? or did i just waste 5 dollars?

Ive bought some plant bulbs before...I have lily plants and random aponogeton plants that have grown from the ones that i bought.

I think it is luck if they ever do grow or not...

I have bought one package where none of them grew and i bought a package where all but two bulbs sprouted.

Not sure what you mean by lily, I've got Tiger Lotus and Onion bulb and both are treated differently.

the Lotus bulb should not be 100% buried in the substrata, I place it about 30% into the soil and let the rest above, once it roots it is great.
the onion bulb should be buried to within a few cm of the top of the bulb.

By lily bulb are you talking about pond lily or what ?

no idea, the package just says lillies.

Tiger lotus is a lilly :)

Pop them into your substrate so they are only 1/3 burried. Problem is you need to know which is the top and which is the bottom. It might be worth leaving them on the surface untill they sprout.
