Hi all, recently I decided along with my other half that setting up a planted tank might be a fun use for the tank that we got for free (85l tank) and put some dwarf puffers in it. Well its finally nearly cycled but some of the plants are looking a little worse for wear. Part of the problem is that we have forgotten what a lot of them are. The java fern at the back is doing great. Here is a pick of the tank overal, it has a fluval u2 filter, a arcadia original tropical 15watt lighting rig, jbl yeast based co2.

Here is a close up of the plant on the right, no idea what this is...

Any advice on why some of the plants have died, or are just not looking to great would be fab. Thanks Ed

the last pic is a non-aquatic plant, so that may be why some of the others have rotted too. Remove it and put it in a pot,

some plants are grown emerged, so they die off but soon grown aqutic leaves. can take up to 2 months IME.

Thats a shame as i thought it looked really good... thats happened to us quite a bad with diff shops. So are you saying that if i pot it up in two months i can try again?

no, it will never be able to survive in submerged conditions, you can pot it or throw it if you like.

With the 2months... i was talking about the aquatic plants that are able to survive in submerged conditions. Such as the java fern, if you notice this starts to melt then dont worry to much as it may just be adapting. If any problems persist after 2months then we can pin it down to other problems.
