well when i first started with bettas i couldnt stand pks
i have absolutely no idea why i didnt like them i just decided i never wanted any
then i i bought 1 'female' betta and thats what started it for me

this was my first (female) male pk

then i decided yeah i kinda like him and ended up with this female (which ended up being a male)

so now im hooked on the pks
i dont know what it is about them that made me hate them and now love them

but now i like to go to pet shops and stare at their females for hours on end just to see if there are any male pks

i went to pet shop today for 2 hours then went and did the groceries then went back to pet shop but none of the females had turned into males in that time

oh well maybe next time

I looove pks. I too used to think of them as quite boring, I used to pine after the pretty HMs and deltas that I could never find round here. Then we bought a random mix of 5 girls from a shop, 2 were pk males and 3 pk females lol. The males were returned for 2 more females and the 5 of them soon became our favourite fish! I think it is their attitude and personality I love, so full of themselves

I actually started off with a VT craze...... browsed aquabid and still loved the VT- tail shape. I was very intrigued by the AMAZING aquabid colors though.

Then i went through my CT phase........

Ignored the HM phase (lasted 1 week)...... ... still lingering as i have yet to own one

Colorful PK's are defintely my sweet spot now, and have been for months.

I'm still holding true to my "no new fish" policy though

I love them too... some of my favourites have been pk. I like them because I think the fish weighed down with heavier finnage look unnatural. My favourites are veiltail, plakat and crowntail, though I do like halfmoons when the fins are a reasonable size. Ft and Rt are gorgeous as well... what I'm talking about is when the tail is half the size of a dinner plate, the anal fin hangs down four inches and the fish can barely swim. I prefer the ones that look like fish, not pretty little paper ornaments.

yeah i started off loving the vts then cts but i hardly ever see the cts
needless to say even though i want more pks if i found i ct i would still get it

I'd love a pair of really nice pks to spawn, I'm so secretly (or not so now ) hoping Netty and Bronzecat do a pk spawn sometime hehehe! It'd be nice to get hold of some more unusual pks, one thing we don't see enough of down here is colourful pks. I've got ctpk fry at the moment. From ctpk sibling parents. REALLY looking forward to watching them grow these next few months! Mum has the perfect little ctpk fins, whilst Dad, although totally gorgeous, has bloody long ct extensions, fingers crossed that the babies have reduced extensions on them.

I think you have to 'accidently' have one to get the bug, I got a female very young which turned out to be a boy PK a story we all know, at first I was disappointed but he turned out to be so pretty and so feisty I favored him over my veiltail now I really like the PK's and when my supplier gets some of the amazing colourful and unusual one's in from abroad I am soo tempted every time!

Yeah I didn't like pk's at first either. I thought they were boring and dumb lol.

Then I saw the nicest purple one and HAD to have him, so naturally he came with my shipment from Thailand. I got his sibling sister too, but she died a week or so later (bullying).

Now in my next (and 3rd) shipment (yes I know I am crazy) I am getting a lovely yellow/gold pk male. I'm also getting his sibling sister.

I go through phases, but at the moment I am starting to dislike my bettas because they won't spawn!!!

I love the non wild colored hmpkts a ton, I would have those as all my fish. however if I want to breed, which I enjoy. then I cant breed pks at all, there is no local market for them. and I cant guarentee every baby will be aquabid worthy. so I am not going to breed what I cant find homes for. although I wish they would become more popular as I have never heard of a pk even a hmpk having fin rot or swimming problems.

Well now you come to mention it, we have got a couple of throw back dragon PKs in our spawn which we will be spawning in the new year. We were actually on the hunt for some nice pks so were very happy to see some amongst our babies.

I think they have great personalities and are great for spawning too. The male we spawned (Diesel) although outwardly aggressive, made the best Dad we've ever had and was so gentle with the female.

The other benefit of PKs is that you don't get so many fin problems with them and they seem much hardier than the longer tail types.
