I have three pimelodus pictus' and they have all had white spot symptoms since yesterday (white spots and flicking against things). I've dosed the whole tank with malechite green but I've taken the pictus's out and put them into isolation. I know you can't use salt or malechite green with them, what can I do? I tried to go to my lfs to see if non copper based treatments exist, but the shop was closed *very strange* and it's now too late to get to the other before it closes.
I thought that doing big water changes every day (with mature water taken from my other (healthy) tanks) would help becuase it would get rid of the free swimming stage white spot thingys? I've also raised the temperature to 26C. Is it safe to raise it to 27 or 28 without harming the fish? I also have two bristnose plecs in there because I wasnt' sure if they went well with malechite green or not so I thought to be safe I'd separate them with the pictus's.
any ideas?
