Is this treatment any use for whitespot/ich ?

The fish I am concerned about don't have any white spots on them but are rubbing against the gravel & bogwood in my tank.

Am I right in thinking this sort of behaviour is the start of ich?

I'ved found the best treatment for whitespot is Interpets Whitespot Plus. With a PSG in ther ei would recomend treating with half the suggested dose.

flicking/rubbing/flashing could be an early symptom of ICh
however it could be an early sign of many diseases too.

what are your water params?
are there any other symptoms?

Amm = 0
N'rite = 0
N'rate = .75 (Comes out the tap at about this level, tried Nitrate reduce chemicals etc.. + do have algae probs after about 2 weeks following water change & glass clean etc.. but to no real avail)
PH = 8

Upped my cleaning to once every 7-10 days with a 25/30% water change & gravel vac but if my Nitrates are this high & the meds don't work any suggestions other than a r/o unit?

Other syptoms shaking of body & flicking fins. On some fish & not on others.

:/

Your Nitrates are under 1? or is that a misprint and supposed to be 75?

75 is way to high and water changes are the only safe way to bring them down.If you post its 75 I'll tell you a little story about my recent run in with Nitrates.

If its under 1,then Nitrates are not a problem.In a planted tank 10 is what most people shoot for,unplanted they try for 20.So under 1 is anything but high,or trouble.

Sorry - Yes it's 75mg/l (Nitrate)

Didn't really want to keep live plants - can I get anything to take out the Nitrates such as a filter sponge when I do my water chages with my Syphon Python Gravel Vac?

Well right now your Nitrates are weakening the fishes immune system enabling ich to take them over.If it were me I'd treat the ich 1st and then worry about the Nitrates.The only way to lower nitrates are by water change and gravel vacuumings.

Click the link in my signature to show you ways to help with the ich.I've been lucky enough to have never had to deal with Ich,so I don't know anything to tell you,or if this treatment works.I can only go by what i've read and heard.

Hope it works out for you.

Thanks IceH20 I hope I sort it too. Its frustrating as I have a great looking tank & cabinet, huge Ehiem external filter, great Syphon Pyhon cleaner which is so easy to us when doing gravel vac & water change & I end up with having massive amounts of Nitrates in my tap water :sly:
