Looks amazing! I take it it's in the lower brackish tank at the moment?

What kind of information do you have on them at the moment?

Hi Fella

Yes they are in my lower end brackish Tank. There are two of them; the other one was hiding while I was taking the photos. All I know is that they can get to 40 cm (but I think that’s in the wild) they have not grown much since I had them (about 3 month). They eat everything from Bloodworm, prawns to flake food. They are higher end brackish when the get older, and they are nearly as fast as the Monos. When they get big enough they suppose to go in to my bigger tank.

I got one from Wildwoods a couple of years ago but sadly it was harrassed to death by the other fish, firstly by the scats which nipped its antenna constantly and then by some little gobies which we rescued from the river shrimp and kept in a small tank after i had moved the antenna fish in there with them to get it away from the scats.

Sometimes fish are just plain evil :(

Hi CFC

Do you know a bit more about these fish?

Thanks

Sabby

Not much to be honest, information on them was hard to come by and what i could get came mainly from angling sites. From what i read they live in schools and feed mainly on invertabrates but will also take smaller fish, they grow to around 18 inches long and apperently are a fairly hard fighting fast swimming species.

Thanks for that. I have noticed that they can move some, I would say that they are nearly as quick as Monos.

Thanks

Hi Sabby, this is all of the info I can find on them. Hope it is useful.

Habitat: The costal waters of Asia, especially the mouth of the Ganges.

Sex differences: Males are a bit smaller and more colourful.

Size: Up to 44cm.

Social Behavior: Happy alone or in shoals.

Water: Needs brackish and a strong flow from the filter. Likes temperatures from 22-28*C.

Breeding: Possible. Spawns biannually from November to February and August to September. The young spend a few months in freshwater before they move on.

Feeding: Crustations, sea stars, worms and other small inverts found in brackish waters. Eats most things offered in aquaria.

Notes: Has no swimbladder. Also supposed to be quite difficult to keep alive.

Good luck!

Hi Severum Boy

Thanks for the info.

All I would like to know what salinity they need when they are older.

Thanks

Sabby

Hi Sabby,
I dont have any info on what salinity they need, maby it would work if it was a touch higher than the brackish norm?
It may be best to play it safe and slowly increase the salinity as it grows. How big is it now?

Hi Again

At the moment they are in my 26 gal Brackish Tank at around 1.005. I want to grow them on to go
into my high end Brackish 150 gal tank, as I know they gonna get big. They eat like pigs and are really active but they haven't grown. They are about 3inch, but they are more long then anything else.
