This is a Red Devil that was at a fish shop, i can now say its doing fine as the owner seen the fish in this state and had to buy it to save its life.
But this is what happens when people dont look after there water, im also going to post pics of my large Oscar who had it at one stage as well.

I forgot to add, the whole point of this picture was because there were a couple of us talking about it and someone wanted to see what it looked like.

how do you stop it? i think mines headdin that way...

Oh GOSH, that's horrible!!!! :-( :-( :-(

My blue gourami has a little dent type thing on his head, but not really a "hole".......jeez, what are you going to do!!??

Its because of poor water that Hole In the Head comes about, the best way to get rid of it is 30% daily water changes.
Oscars are really the most common to it, as you can see from my oscar in the 2nd and 3rd pic it was on the edge of becoming large holes but i got to it right away, it took about a week (7days) untill there was no sign of it.

What fish have you got that you think it might have it?

HITH can also be helped by feeding the fish more vitamins A,C and E. They strength the fishes skeleton and immune systems.

I got an eartheater last saturday, and on sunday I noticed a small dent just above his mouth that looks like that. I thought it may be HITH, but it's got no worse. I'm keeping an eye on it just in case though. Do you know if they are prone to it?? He is a Geophagus Jurupari, and is about 9".

mine is a oscar. i dont know if he has it but i saw a flake of skin comin off of his head and figured he just hit it on sothing in the tank and it riped it up i dont know if hes got HITH or not im just watchin and waitin...

If its a flake coming off then my guess would be its a scratch, but just to make sure keep your eye on it :)

Honestly, that first picture is a really great shot, but its too bad that the fish has HITH. Hope he gets better soon!
