Fish Crazy
Hey guys & gals,
I've been playing with the layout of this tank and am slowing getting to somewhere near what I like. As you can maybe make out, the carpeting plant in the front and centre hasn't taken. It will be being replaced with dwarf hairgrass soon. I find it best to do tank maintenance and replanting during my weekly water change to minimised disturbance to the fish. The fish are Vaillants chocolate gourami (Sphaerichthys vaillanti), LDA033, 6 Celestial pearl danios (soon to be whisked off to my breeding tank), and 4 amano shrimp.
I've been settling in my gouramis for a month or so. It has been tricky getting it just right for these guys. They are very temperamental fish, but I seem to be getting it right so far. Its a bit of a challenge keeping a planted tank with these fish in it, but I have been treading a fine line.
Plants are cyperus helferi (back), anubias bateri var nana 'petite', crypt wendeti, cabomba, and a little rotala sneaked in from my main tank. The dying carpet plant was HC, but as mentioned above my dwarf hairgrass should be arriving in a few days.
Equipment:
Juwel rekord 60
Eheim 2211 external filter - 30% mech 50% substrat pro, sponge and wool 20%
Spraybar pointed to back of tank to reduce current and surface aggitation.
Flourite substrate with some JBL balls to root feeders
Pressuried CO2 (hydor) on solenoid via rhinox 1000 diffuser
In dwelling digital CO2 monitor (ph 6.72-6.8 @ KH 4)
2 X T5 ~20" on a 7 hour photo-period
Ferts - tropica plant nutrition twice a week, KNO3 twice a week.
50% water change weekly.
Vaillants chocolate gourami, Sphaerichthys vaillanti
Amano shrimp
CPD (excuse the messy picture - I forgot to clean the glass prior to taking the pics)
LDA033
