I just fed my fish canned shrimp (drained, rinsed, microwaved for 10 seconds, repeated 4 times, then left to cool) for the first time, and most of my fish dont like them! Well, the only fish that dont are my SA cichlids. (angelfish and convict cichlids) Whys this, or does anyone know?

Mine dont seem to eat shrimp either. You buy em something better than flake food and they swim away :dunno:

Hi Sean_Buckley :)

Why not try giving them natural, not canned shrimp? They can have it raw or boiled without salt in the cooking water.

Canned food is not the best thing to feed fish because of the salt or other preservatives that might be used in the processing. It is not good, and can actually be harmful to some fish including cory cats.

I kinda wondered...but Dwarfs said he fed his fish canned shrimp. Maybe I misunderstood him. And I do feed natural shrimp (live) occasionally, but around here, Ghost Shrimp are $.69 a piece. Doesn't sound expensive, but, believe me, $6.90 for 10 shrimp is a pretty expensive meal for my fish!

My fish love the stuff :dunno: They've had no ill effects in the past 4 months I've been feeding it to them :) I use it mainly to get my ropefish to eat, but I'm weening him/her onto mealworms. I recommended it because it works for me, maybe other people have different opinions -_-
