I was at the local pet supplies place, where they sell common fresh water fish, when I seen they had 3 GSPs! There fish are so cheap I couldnt pass them up :hyper:

I used to have a golden puffer and miss the puffers. They are now in with my wasp fish at 1.010. I also have a 3 inch hermit crab in the tank and they were hovering aroung him but when the got to close the hermit "kicked" them away!

I would post this in my wasp fish thread because its the same tank, but I cant find it.

Definately. Hermit crabs rock. They kill less of your fish than most crabs. Nerite snails and Crown Conchs go brackish. I love Crown Conchs, Horse and Queen Conches are protected but Crown ones are not. Crown Conches are much smaller. They look awsome at night when they are awake.

How big is your tank? Green Spotted Puffers need 30gallons of space per fish.
Also- I can guarantee they're going to eat your hermit crab.

I have a 20L. So I guess Im breakin the law!! 8) A fish that is an inch big does not need 30 gallons of tank. The hermit crab is like king kong to these fish, so I doubt they will eat it any time soon. They are also well fed. May the strongest survive!

They, tend to, you know, like, grow...

And grow a lot. They get to around six inches or so. Also, they are very messy eaters. Considering that a common rule is 5 gallons for a one inch dwarf puffer, you can probably figure out that a 6 inch puffer is going to need a lot more room.

when they get to be to big for the tank I will change that then, there is no need for me to set up another tank for a 1 inch fish that may get 2-3 inches in a years time! Theese are not the first puffers I have kept. I never said that when the puffer gets 6 inches I will keep it in a 20L for its entire life. All I ever kept in this hobby is big meat eating fish.

I will also be running a protien skimmer on this tank soon, do you any of you have one on yours?

I do not currently have a protein skimmer in my brackish tank. I used to, but stopped using it. It didn't do much and was more trouble than it was worth. Of course my tank is only at 1.005, so it will likely have better effects in your tank. Also, you are aware that 3 GSPs will need at least about an 80g tank when full grown. It would be advisable to move the fish as soon as possible. If you don't, aggression could quickly become a rather large problem. GSPs are one of the more peaceful puffers, but as with any fish, if they are kept in such a small space, they will become aggressive. I would suggest moving them up to at least a 60l as a temporary home, or you will likely have major aggression problems.

Sorry, I know the forum isn't spelling, but, you need an i. I had no idea hermits could be in brackish.
