4 german blue ram
2 adult cory cat
4-6 cherry shrimp
1-2 pleco
8-10 neon tetra

tank is 40gallon and there will be lots of real plants and some pieces of driftwood.

Id edit it to a pair of rams,

6 corries

1 small pleco

do you mean all that plus the 8 neons or no neons ? because i want all of these fish for sure, i just dont know what numbers to add.
i really wanted a pair of black angels, but dont think i can add them in.. or can i ?
2 angels, 2 rams, 4 cory, 8 neon and 1 pleco ?
also i wanted cherry shrimp but was told that they will be eaten by the rams, are there any other shrimp i can get or something cool like that instead of the cherry shrimp ? i just love those things.

sounds great to me, but what about some shrimp ? i want them soo bad, can i add ghost shrimp instead of cherry? or can i get a crab or crawfish? i loved the shrimp because they crawl on the plants, i guess thats something i am really wanting to look into getting. any suggestions?

I'd say a pair of rams, 6 cories, a small pleco, and a school of cardinals would be good. I like cardinals better since I think they're not as bluntly haede and have hame more color but, thats just me. I'd watch the shrimp if you get them cause the rams might eat them but, with lotsof plants they might be fine. Crab might snag a fish and are usually best kept alone or with big fish.

Shrimp would be ok, but I believe most (if not all) crabs or crawfish will eat your fish. I'll mention it since nobody else has - don't mix angels and neons together, in the wild neons are an angel's natural prey. Go for cardinals instead if you want angels with them. The reason for having only one pleco is because they are poop machines and you really only need one. As mentioned above, go for a small pleco (not a common or sailfin) such as a bristlenose or a clown.
I'd either go with:
A pair of angels
8 cardinal tetras or any other medium sized tetra
6 cories
1 small pleco (or 3-4 ottos instead of the pleco)
A handful of shrimp

A pair of rams
8 cardinal tetras or any other medium sized tetra
6 cories
1 small pleco (or, again, 3-4 ottos instead of the pleco)
A handful of shrimp

You could also have a group of small loaches instead of the cories. I don't think it really matters which kind of shrimp you get, either cherry or ghost, or whatever else you can find (just make sure it can't eat your fish! I know some grow big enough to do just that!)

Livebearers like platies or guppies would be great, if you get a fish that likes eating the fry you shouldn't have a problem with the overcrowding either, you could put Neons in the tank with the guppies/platies, they will eat baby livebearers too, unless you have enough plants to let some of the babies survive.

ok i will look into the cardianls. i have some neons in a 10g now and like their color, but if they are the same then i will look at them.

so the main question is.. will the shrimp get eaten by anything?
i want:
2rams
8neon or caridnal
6 cory
1 pleco
shrimp if they will be alright
