these are moustached danios (Danio dangila) not
glowlight (Brachydanio choprae)

glowlights only get to 3cm these will get to 15cm.

I do have 1 glowlight though and he's very colourful.

their natural habitat is fast flowing streams, so i don't think that a pond is suitable for them, unless it's heated or you are in a hot country and you have fast flowing water. :D

They do look very nice in a tank

I Can Make the Pond Fast Flowing, Its Easy To Do.

Just instead of a Fountain I would Direct the Flow into the Pond at and angle to create A Faster Flow.

I can get a pond heater from my mate across the road.
He has loads of spare supplies that he says i can have whenever i want.

thats good to know, If you go ahead and do this pm me
i'd like to know if this works.

I am building up a lot of info on all danios and this would be great for that. :D

I have tried a few Types Of Danio in Cold Water.

Zebra and Leopard are the Best and Most Rugged Danio.

They can take as low as 15 in the pond, and they dont need Fast Flowing Pond Either.

If you have a Waterfall or Feature that is suffecient.

HTH

thats true about the temp heres some of what info I've gathered on zebras

18-24c Inhabits streams, canals, ditches, ponds and beels. Occurs in slow-moving to stagnant standing water bodies, particularly rice-fields. Common in rivulets at foot hills. Feeds on worms and small crustaceans; also on insect larvae that it can be used for mosquito control.

this applies to leopards as well but not for pearls and others.

and don't ask me what a beel is I have no idea either :S

so are they a color morph of giant danios? They look exactly like the ones I have except they have that spot.

no they are a seperate member of the danio family
the danio danglia (moustached or olive) are found in myanmar, bangladesh, nepal, bhutan and india; whilst the Danio aequipinnatus (giant) is only endemic to india and nepal

also the giants are very blue where as these are pink(ish) to brown
I have just got some danio devario (bengal, sind or turquoise) which are very similar to the giant, so much so that they are often sold as giants. the main diff between these are the gaints have a continual line of yellow running down the lateral line but the bengals have a broken one and are slightly more arrowhead shaped.
I'll post pics as soon as i can take some. :D
