photos of pregnant swordtail

hmm ive got a male and female sword tail ive had them for a week now, and odds are my female got pregnant at our lfs, does any1 have a pic of a pregnant one so i can check?

sorry no pic here but do you see the gravid by her anal fin?

hmm thats the thing shes got mostly a black body in that part, shes orange/black I heard that they show up pink gravid spots, but its hard to tell, can any1 shed some light on the situation?

Well in my experience of swordtails regardless of colors, if the females are pregnant over a period of days they will get fat, slowly and surely till they look like they are going to expload. I believe it takes a month before fry release (somebody correct me if I am wrong). I hope this helps someway and keep us posted!

thnx, well she looks fat but its hard to tell cause shes the only female i got, plus i got a white female platy who looks like shes about to explode, hmm so thats gonna be alot of babies

i got the same problem with my molly who is fully black and she doesnt ever get fat

I know the feeling. We had at least 2 births so far (in about a week and a half, with one still possibly releasing babies) and looks like 2 others are preggers.

hello. sorry just commenting on the photos. I've got 3 pregant platties, and I think one of the other new ones I bought is too. It's black where the gravid spot should be, but it's not that fat, so I dunno.
I think my barbs are deffenately pregnant. They look alot more like the fat photos than the normal barb!!!
P.s. very exciting.
