Photos Of Basle Aquarium, Switzerland

wow those tanks must be HUGE. impressive that the plants are growing so well they must be 4 or 5 foot deep.

thanks for sharing mate and hope you enjoyed your trip.

4 or 5 feet? some of them were 8 and 9 feet deep.... Big banks of metal halides from what i could see, no visible co2 but i'm sure they use it.
The stems of the Cabomba were like small trees! well, 20mm, but massive compared to ours!

Very impressive, they look deceptively small but i knew they must be huge (well auctually the gar gave it away).........cool stuff

The Arrowana were amazing, i didn't realise they got to that size! I have more pics, some marine tanks and others, i'll resize and post later...

Those are amazing! And, yes, the loach color loss is age-related. They lose their color once they get to a certain size.

The "pirahna" in with the arowana are actually Myleus rubripinnis, a harmless herbivor similar to silver dollars.

Nice one, CFC. Thanks for the info.... i thought they were an odd combination. They look quite similar thought, don't they? :*)

Theyre the from the same family as pirahna Serrasalmidae which also contains pacus.

those are definatley not discus in that pic named "discus tank"...awesome pics though!
