hi all.

ive had algae in my tank for a while and couldnt get rid of it. so i tested for phosphate levels and its over 5mg/l and it should be 0!
tested the tap water and that is high.

what can i use to get the amount down. i have looked at a ro unit but it looks as if they have to be connected to a mains water supply which isnt possible.

if you have any other idea's please let me know

cheers

You can try those phosphate pillows that go in the filter. I've seen some called "Phos-Zorb" or something like that.

If you're really interested in r/o water, it can usually be bought by the gallon at your LFS.

why can't u hook a RO unit to the mains?
U san try a de-ionizer it uses ur tap water and doesn't wast water. http://www.aquatics-online.co.uk/listsecti...retp=322&rets=X

Phosphate hhhhmmmmm? is the phosphate coming from the tap or is it just something u got that builds up in ur tank from food etc.

Elimi-phos is good but a company called Rowa has the best stuff but it's expensive.
