I need to remove phosphate and silica from my tank because it’s causing diatoms one ALL 6 OF MY TANKS and it is so ugly my snails are working over time. So I heard phosguard was what people in my area use but I have a sponge filter and I’m wondering how to make that work singe the sponge filter space is so small

You really can't use 'chemical' media with a sponge filter. In this case, Phosguard is a resin that adsorbs phosphates, but needs to be in a filter like a canister or an Aquaclear like HOB filter.

So not use phosgaurd for aquaponics. That product is for salt water and you need phosphorus for your plants. Remove it.
Yes plants need phosphate. But if you set a bucket of water aside before the next water change and then put a small filter with the phosgard in the bucket for several days the silicate should be near zero and then you could use the water iduring your next water change. that way the silicate will be low while your tank phosphate would not be affected.
