I originally had 6 lemon and 4 rummy nose tetras in my tank but am now down to 3 of each. Having had so much trouble with the lemons I am not keen to carry them on as a species, and would like to change to something else, (am quite keen on a different type of tetra). how do you phase a specied out your tank? They presumably wont be happy in the abscence of 3 other lemons - would they be happy in the prescence of another type of tetra? I don't know any other fishkeepers, don't want to carry on with lemons but obviously have ot do the best for the ones I already have!

Thanks.

Ask at your LFS if they would trade them for something else, if that fails try buying a similar shaped species and the lemons will surely shoal with those.
Pristellas, Red-Eyes, Beacons, serpae or phantoms should be ok

Some LFS will take them back if you ring around a bit, but you probably won't get credit for them. You can try local zoos or wildlife parks to see if they'll accept donations. Aquarist Classified and ebay are another option but I'm not sure of the legalities of advertising live animals online. There is also a buy, sell and swap section on this forum here:

that is worth looking at.
