Here we go, about a week ago i ordered a hanna checker PH test meter, and a TDS3 meter (total desolved solids), jusy got them today. :D

I tryed the TDS meter in tanks, tap and RO water, no probs works fine, no dout in my mind.

Problens is with PH meter, ran through all the instructions and followed them to the letter, problem is the readings, were all over the place.

Reading the small print i found, you cant use it in the tank, the static from the electrics interferes with the electrode, it was sending the readings coo coo.

I took a sample of water from the tank and got a stable reading (results below)

Heres PH results from 2 liquid teat kits and the hannas PH meter,

.......aquarium pharm inc...........nutrafin wide range...........PH meter

tank1.........PH6.8.............................PH6.5..........................PH7.2

tank2.........PH6.4.............................PH5.0..........................PH6.9

tank3.........PH6.8.............................PH6.5..........................PH7.3

tank4.........PH6.8.............................PH6.5..........................PH7.4

Theres quite a direrence between aquairum pharmaceuticals, which is supose to be quite good and the hannas PH meter. :dunno:

any comments! or info to help my akeing head lol

I've never tried a pH meter at home. But have used them in science labs and found that care needs to be taken in calibrating them. We used to have two buffers of known pH that we calibrated against before every use, can't remember what make or model the unit was though.

Does it have a calibration procedure?

The pH meter is does look like its consistently 0.6 to 0.4 above your Aquarium Pharmacueticals test. Seems like a calibration issue to me, too. The odd one out is tank2 nutrafin test. That one probably needs to be retested.

thanks for the replys :D

the instructions say u can calabrate it with 1 soulusion ph7.01 done this, may be i need to do a 2 point calabration?

the nutrafin is a wice range test kit. no matter how many times i test tank 2 with it it always comes out at PH 5.0?

i bought this meter thinking it would be cheeper and easyer in the long run, but i'm begining to wonder if it was worth it.

the latest teas are

tank 1........PH6.9
tank 2........PH6.9
tank 3........PH7.0
tank 4........PH7.1

what the hells going on with tank 2.
