just tested my new jewel 5ft 400litre tank for the first time in about 3 weeks. all the parameters are good except the PH. It was around 7.2 - 7.6 but just tested it now and its 6.0! I have some PH buffer salt stuff that I put in Mbuna tank, will this be a quick fix or long term solution, or any other advise you can give me.

Thank you

Rob

a PH buffer is all you can realy do, whats your tap water PH because if its higher then water changes on a regular basis (20% weekly) will keep the PH at a good level. you must have something in your tank causing this like bogwood.

yes we have bogwood in the tank. regular water changes and buffer the solution?

yea the bogwood releases linins that will lower your ph but if are going to use a ph adjuster make sure not to do to much to fast or you will harm your fish

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP. PH 7.2 NOW

If you ever come accross Limestone or tuffa rock try adding some to the aquarium decor :) its great for Mbuna as it increase the waters hardness and Ph.
