Hi all
A development - Eheim have replied to my question as to whether anything in the new filter media may have affected the pH value. In the same email I asked why the instructions for setting up the Professional 3e filter said the spray bar had to be above the water as this was giving us a bit of a problem with water level. Well me - I hate the water level being below the hood, my better half however loves the bubbles that ensue from the bar.
Anyway - their reply today said that the spray bar above the water was only an initial thing to free the filter of air and that once that has happened the spray should be below the waterline. They say that the spray bar continuing to be above the water line IS a likely cause of the pH having risen!
Apart from immediately adding the missing water, I've replied to them asking whether the pH will drop once the spray bar is underwater but I was wondering if anyone could throw any light on why the spray bar being out of water should have caused this. Is it excessive oxygenation?
Also, my other half is very unhappy that he has lost his lovely bubble stream - any suggestions on regenerating it would be much appreciated.
