Pfk

There isn't another magazine in the UK really.

i would have got it sooner but i couldnt find anywhere that sold it but i founf it in WH Smiths today, will have to send off for the free food samples :) :D

Im thinking of getting it myself, But i have a few quesions, Other mags ive had in the past, like mens health fo instance praise somethign one week and then a month later tell you its the worste thing in the world....

I know thats not a really good example but is PFK the same as that?

The only other fish magazine i've had in the past was 'tropical fish' and i don't even know if that mag still exists -_- . But yeah, i know what you mean by:
praise somethign one week and then a month later tell you its the worste thing in the world....
.
Tropical fish used to do that, but pfk doesn't. Another plus point to pfk is that alot of the writers are mods and very experienced members on this forum :good: .

Tropical Fish Keeping does still exist, its one of the 3 i get regulary. The other 2 being PFK and also Tropical Fish Hobbyist which is imported from the US.

Rich, if you want the other 2, go to a good newsagents that you can get to on a regular basis and ask them to order them for you :)

PFK IMO is far to Marine orrientated of late which really miffs me off. Its seems to go

Marine
Tropical
Coldwater

in the rankings of the amount of page space is given to each issue.

Yeah I agree with that, I am interested in Coldwater (fancies) first and then trops but PFK has been mainly Marine for ages which isn't worth the money for me -_-

It's not the best source of info, but then again, no magazines are. It's an interesting read- the Q&A pages and such, and there's a lot of free samples of things (three or four free food samples to send off for with the latest issue), but some of the articles are rather too basic and there's too many advert pages (mainly things that pretend to be an actual article but blatently aren't, proper ads are OK). Certainly some of the information has me cringing- especially answers to peoples questions about bettas. I'm also particularly annoyed by the 'Winning Team' page- the amount Hagen is bothered about fish welfare can fit in the gap between two postage stamps stuck together- the pages are blatently just another advert, but without the big 'advertisment feature' printed in the corner.

PFK has a lot of marine in some times, but it's all a good read. The site is excellent too.

I've got most issues from 1996 onwards, and they do repeat quite a lot, even from years ago. I saw on the website recently they relived an article they posted some time ago on a gentleman who claimed to have bred clown loaches in devon. It's still a great mag, for sure.
