well i needed some ottos for my tank so i went to petsmart its the only place open

besides walmart.anyways i asked for 4 otto's and the lady was trying to net them

out, the ottos were very fast and she smooshed one up against the wall, poor little

guy ,so when she scooped three out she went for the fourth one....well the fourth

one grabbed ahold of the net, the woman USED HER HANDS to pry it

off  she was struggling with it atleast 5 minutes so i said ill take just these

three to try to get her to stop and put the poor guy back in the water i dont think

ill go back there unless i need fish food or cheap tanks...... just goes to show you

about how much they DONT care for their fish just for their sales!

Aww,poor things.God I swear those employees are just careless I go to Petland and I know these 2 guys that I always see when there for fish things or something. The guy I known longest even said he wouldn`t like selling me these silver dollars because they have something wrong with them and that he didnt feel good and safe selling them to me.Gosh if I were you I would`ve phoned Petsmart and complain

I used to work at Incredible Pets and scooping out the plecos were the worst. Sometimes they would suck so hard onto the glass I couldn't get them off. :/ I would never smush them up against the glass though, I just waited patiently for them to swim into my net. :p

I hate the petsmart here. Their fish are overstocked, their bettas are all half dead, and even their parakeets and finches are all raggy and overcrowded. I hate all stores that sell animals nowadays; they let too much harm come to them to make a few extra bucks.

I sorta did wonder how they caught Plecos...
Well when I was working at Incredible Pets some guy came in and he was like, I have a really bad algae problem so I need some sucker fish. I was like okay how many? And he said four.

The pleco tank was on the bottom so I got down on my knees with a net and a specimen container filled with water and scooped out one bristlenose, it took about 2 minutes for each one. Then I had 3 and I was trying to get the fourth one who decided to suck onto the glass for dear life. It took me about 10-15 minutes to get him out. I felt so bad for making the customer wait, but I wasn't about to smush him against the glass to get him in the net. I ended up putting my other hand into the tank and "spooking" him into my net.

That was the hardest thing I've had to catch...and when some little girl and her mom wanted the "turquoise" female betta. I scooped out the one they pointed to and they kept telling me that wasn't the one they pointed to so I ended up scooping out like 20 female bettas until they liked one. They were all the same ones they pointed to, but they just look different in the specimen container than in the actual tank because the actual tank has lights and a background. I tried to explain that to them but for some reason they thought I was trying to give them a different betta than the one they picked out.

I dont think any of the people that work there know the slightest thing about any

of their fish. I am lucky tho however to have a couple good fish stores they might

not have what i want all the time but they treat their fish great. i wish all the

others would do the same.most of the time i think the people who do buy the fish

care about them im sure some of em buy them and leave them in a tank and not

care for them. I wish i controlled all the pet/fish stores then i could make sure the

fish go to a good home and live a happy life with their new owners.

plecs are easy!!

put the net in front of them hand from behind!! The if there of a good size and stuck to the glass you just pinch then at the pectoral and pull them off.

I'ved never spent too long catching a fish, gold spot ancistrus are the worst are there come in tiny so you have to use the nets and escape so easily.

if a customers starts messing aorund with there choice i just blag them off by something along thelines of your going to end up killing all the fish by making me stress them out etc etc.

What most annoys meis people that say they don't want the fish i'ved just bagged up.

Somtimes you get a really ignorant person there, it's annoying. Most of the time they can't even catch the fish so they give me the net and them within a matter of seconds.

It really depends on the employees in each store. I am fortunate that the 2 PetSmarts that I visit both have knowledgable employees, especially the one near where I work. I was in there Thursday and their tanks were immaculate. Also, I almost never see a dead fish in one of their tanks. None of their tanks were terribly crowded either. Almost all fish stores will have overstocked tanks based on the 1" per gallon rule but when they get a shipment in, they have to go somewhere. Also, I almost never see a dead fish in one of their tanks.
